Paradise Poker bonus FINISHED!

Not bad at all.

In just under a week, I managed to clear the bonus at Paradise. The final tally:

$200 initial deposit
+$100 in bonus
+$131.50 in my play alone
Total bankroll at Paradise: $431.50

That pushes my bankroll up to around $500, counting what I have in Paradise plus the $70 or so I have at FullTilt. Not bad for a week's work.

I'll nose around and see what I can find as far as reload bonuses at other sites. Until then, I think I may just hang around Paradise to see if I can clear another $100 or so playing .50/1 limit.

Day Two of Operation: Paradise

The second day of my bonus clearing expedition at Paradise did not go quite as well as the first.

Sunday 2/12
Afternoon: 12:45pm-1:30pm
Hold-em: -16.00
Session: -16.00

Evening:
Stud 8/b: -5.25
hold-em: -4.75
Session: -10.00
Total today: -26.00

Total win/loss through my play alone: $46.25

I did clear another $20 of bonus though, which means I'm now halfway through my 1000 raked hands.

I took $50 Friday and put in FullTilt Poker to play in the Something Awful goon tournament. This week was a $5 + .50 buyin, NL HE. A great crowd showed up, 73 players strong. I was lucky enough to make the final table and finish in 6th to win a prize of about $21.90. I love playing these tournaments because there's always good chat going on. That makes it easier to sit there and not get antsy while I wait for big hands to play. So now I have a little more of a cushion to take a break from grinding out the Paradise bonus... I can roll over to FullTilt and play an SNG or so to break the monotony.

The bankroll building begins!

Tax refund finally came in today, which means it's poker time.

First stop is Paradise Poker, where I deposited $200 to utilize a 50% up to $100 deposit bonus. It'll take 1000 raked hands to clear the full $100 in bonus. Here's how my actual play went for the day:

Morning (11am-12:30pm)
hold-em (.50/1): +30.50
stud 8/b (.50/1): +8.75
Session: +39.25
Total so far: +39.25

Afternoon: 1pm-2:20pm
hold-em (.50/1): +23.75
Session +23.75
Total so far: +$63

Evening: 7pm-8pm
hold-em -12.25
stud 8/b: -3.50
Session: -15.75
Total so far: +47.25

Evening: 8:45pm-9:30pm
Hold-em: +25.00
Session: +25.00
Total so far: +72.25

TOTALS FOR THE DAY:
Hold-em (.50/1): +67.00
7-stud 8/b (.50/1): +5.25
Total: +72.25

On top of that, I've cleared $30 of the $100 in bonus. All in all, a very nice day. I'm looking forward to some more fishing on Saturday.

Hey! An update!

There's not an awful lot going on right now. I've cashed out of poker for the moment to re-read some of the "classics" before I get really serious about my game. Tax season is coming, and then it's time to start investing some serious cash into the game and see where it will take me. I won't lie to you... I'm tremendously excited. This is going to be a great test for my game to see where I'm at, and it will possibly give me a hint of how far I can go.

Did training for the new job this week, hopefully it will be unremarkable enough that I'll never have to mention it here again. Moving on...

Well, there hasn't been much else going on. It's nice to drop life into a lower gear for the time being and get myself mentally prepared for what's ahead of me. I need to get into a schedule and groove for meditation, hopefully I can start that next week.

I get the feeling that big things are about to happen. Here's hoping that I can take them in stride, whether they are good or bad.

Belated Happy New Year

Yeah, I know it's late. So sue me.

Not a whole lot happening over the past week, which is why I didn't update. I know that's a weak excuse, but there ya go. I did finally venture out to a club tonight. The big revelation... I'm now officially too old to go to clubs. It wasn't particularly fun or entertaining in any way, and I'm not all about spending $4 + tip for a Corona. I actually had more fun walking around and seeing the different clubs and restaurants from outside. I guess I could always become a Starbucks lounge lizard.
